Nashville Hosts Course Redesign Workshop

The Nashville Course Redesign event held on February 4th was a success.   Attendees from English (32 attendees), World Languages (10 attendees) and Communication and Social Sciences (13 attendees) comprised the robust crowd despite the snowy weather covering the Midwest and South.

Carolyn Jarmon, Vice President of the National Center for Academic Transformation was the keynote speaker.

Six Faculty Advisors also participated in the workshop:

w Stephen Black, Southwest Tennessee CC, MyCompLab
w Mandy Davis, Somerset Community College, MyWritingLab / MyReadingLab
w Jayne Violette, Eastern Kentucky University, MySpeechLab / MyCommunicationLab
w Jason Fetters, Purdue, MySpanishLab
w Anne Prucha, University of Central Florida, MySpanishLab
w Noland White, Georgia College, MyPsychLab

These knowledgeable professors sat on a panel discussion and gave presentations on their Course Redesign experiences and successes in discipline breakout sessions.

Here’s what one attendee had to say about the event:

I want to thank both of you ladies so much for making possible my attendance at the Course Redesign conference in Nashville last weekend.  The speakers were excellent and I was very pleased to see how much MySpanishLab has improved… Listening to the goals of the Redesign concept reassured me that Dr. Pam Gill (my teaching colleague) and I are on the right track with the changes we have made in our department over the past five years.  It also gave me a few things to think about for the future.
- Profesora Deborah Neuman, Spanish Instructor, Gaston College
