ICTCM Gives Pearson Authors and Faculty Advisors a Place to Shine

ICTCM 2012 took place this year in Orlando, Florida from March 22-25 with an outstanding turnout of over 1000 registrants. The keynote, Stop Teaching Calculating, Start Teaching Math, was delivered by Conrad Wolfram, Strategic Director of Wolfram Research. According to attendees, Wolfram did an outstanding job presenting.

Course redesign sessions were held throughout the day on Saturday and drew great crowds of interested participants. Sandee House, Pearson’s Training Consultant from Georgia Perimeter College discussed the role of teacher in course redesign during her session.

A pre-session workshop took place on all day Thursday and drew 60 faculty to the event which focused on teaching with “Cool – i - Tools.”

As always, a large collection of Pearson authors and Faculty Advisors shared their personal experiences teaching and their time training at ICTCM. Over 25 Pearson authors participated, some doing double-duty as an author and a Faculty Advisor. Those Faculty Advisors who presented and/or assisted in MyMathLab training were:

·    Kathy Almy, Rock Valley Community College
·    MaryAnne Anthony, Santa Ana College
·    Tim Britt, Jackson State Community College
·    Donna Densmore, Bossier Parish Community College
·    Teri Barnes, McLennan Community College
·    Andreana Grimaldo, Quinsigamond Community College
·    Shawna Haider, Salt Lake Community College

I had a great time at ICTCM and learned a lot.  The workshops were very informative.  I look forward to going to more ICTCM conferences in the future.

First I want to say that this was one the best ICTCM conference I have been to, and I have been to at least 10 of them over the years. I really learned a lot and was anxious to get home and try things in my classes. I am already looking forward to next year!
Lisa Lister, Bloom University

Things are already in gear for ICTCM 2013 which will take place in Boston, March 21-24, 2013. We’ll be accepting presenter proposals soon so be sure to check back with the blog and ICTCM website for more details.
