Faculty Advisors Overrun ICTCM

The Pearson booth at ICTCM
Taking place in Denver, Colorado, March 17-20, the International Conference on Technology in Collegiate Mathematics (ICTCM) showcased the experiences of 14 Pearson Math and Stats Faculty Advisors.  Exhibitors reported attendance in the exhibitor space was down this year, but overall approval of the sessions was up due to some great speakers with excellent topics.

Presenters included:
¨       Margo Alexander, Georgia State University
¨       Tim Britt, Jackson State Community College
¨       Debby Casson, University of New Mexico
¨       Donna Densmore, Bossier Parish Community College
¨       Fred Felton, Coastline Community College
¨       Andreana Grimaldo, Quinsigamond Community College
¨       Sandee House, Georgia Perimeter College
¨       Scott McDaniel, Middle Tennessee State University
¨       Phoebe Rouse, Louisiana State University
¨       Rita Sowell, Volunteer State Community College
¨       John Squires, Chattanooga State Community College
¨       Gwen Terwilliger, University of Toledo
¨       Kimberly Walters, Mississippi State University
¨       George Woodbury, College of the Sequoias

Presenters discussed popular teaching & learning tools and emerging technologies like  the iPhone, Twitter, SmartPen, Second Life, YouTube, CP3, and Elluminate to motivate teachers of all levels to return to their own college campuses and  experiment with new tools and skills, integrate technology into their courses, and inspire their students in new ways.

Pearson’s Faculty Advisors not only shared their own tales of course redesign using products like MyMathLab, MyStatLab, and StatCrunch, but also focused on the outcomes and positive effects technology has in the classroom – no matter the course format.

We are looking forward to another fabulous ICTCM in 2012, March 22-25 in Orlando, Florida at the Walt Disney World Dolphin hotel.  My sources tell me they’ve already begun working on the 24th ICTCM and I’ll let you know as soon as the speaker proposal forms for 2012 are live (who doesn’t want to go to Florida in March?  Bring the family and have some fun!)
